I was one of those die-hard Android users who somehow eventually ended up with an iPhone. In the last 3.5 months since I got my new iPhone 7, I've been compiling a tally sheet...
Samsung Galaxy S5 Advantages
- Numbers are on the same letter keypad - don't need to go to another keypad.
- Can text multiple ppl separately - maybe I just haven't figured it out yet but I don't know how to write one text and send it to multiple people separately on the iPhone, NOT in a group message.
- Google calendar widget - using a whole screen for my whole calendar overview.
- Back button - don't need to scroll/tap the screen to find the back button.
- Word memorization and predictor - a running bar on top of the keypad predicting my next word based on what I've typed before so I can just tap on it and write a whole sentence without actually typing it!
- Dial phone number by contacts - on my number keypad, I can just type the number that corresponds with the letters of their name, i.e. 2 for A, 6 for n, 3 for D...and I don't even have to type their whole name before it comes up.
- Clipboard for pasting - all the things I copy/cut are archived on a clipboard, not just the most recent thing I copy/cut. So I can go back to something I copied days ago to paste again.
- Can edit locations in Weather App - can edit the locations on my built-in weather app. On my iPhone, there's a city I've never heard of, much less been to, and I can't delete it!
- Can touch time on Google Calendar to schedule - I don't know WHY the iPhone version doesn't allow me to tap on a certain time in my calendar to schedule something there OR hold down an appointment and drag it to a different time/day. I have to click the general "+" button and then adjust the time.
- Flashing light for texts and FB messenger - I really miss the flashing light that indicates certain notifications until I check it. Blue for texts/missed calls/voicemails/emails, green for Facebook messages. i.e. I can wake up and look for a blinking light on my phone across the room to see if I missed anything.
- Can drag the scroll bar straight down - instead of scrolling tons of times to get to the end of the page on a website/article on my iPhone.
- Can restart - holding down the power button gives me the option to restart OR shut off.
- Draft texts - I can draft a text and leave it there for days until I'm ready to send it, but iPhones wipe it clean as soon as you leave that screen.
- Shortcuts to call - by swiping right on texts or holding the phone up to my ear while I'm reading their text. Also, see #6.
iPhone 7 Advantages
- Touch ID - hands down favorite feature. I just have to put one of the 5 fingerprints I registered on the button to download apps and sign in to various apps.
- Ethnic emojis - holding down a face/hand emoji to change the skin color - brilliant and so inclusive!
- FaceTime - more convenient and reliable than Skype or Google Hangouts, at least in the 3 times I've used it.
- iMessage - texts show up on my Macbook even tho my phone is turned off. ***Big gripe though - the texts are super delayed when I turn my Macbook on and still show up as unread even though I opened them and responded days ago.
- Widget for any audio - easy access to music & podcasts by swiping up from the bottom edge.
- Built-in Notes - no need to download extra apps to take notes, and it syncs with my Macbook.
- Build-in Reminder app - no need to download an extra app to set reminders that sync with my Macbook, and they include notifications!
- No autocorrect for numbers - it was SO annoying when my Android would autocorrect my numbers for addresses, phone numbers, etc. iPhones leave my numbers as I type them!
- Better protection against viruses - my Android heated up alot one day and deleted EVERYTHING (I was most devastated about my pics from a big trip that weren't backed up).
- Battery life - considering that my Samsung is taking the lead, I hope my iPhone makes up for it in excellent battery life even after the 1st year because I plan to keep it for at least 3 years!

Samsung #5 - iPhone has that too haha
ReplyDeleteSamsung #8 - LOL that's weird because I have complete control over my locations on my iPhone and so should you.
